AMS Three-Peats in the 2024 ClearlyRated Awards

At American Medical Staffing, we believe our healthcare professional and client partners understand how we can be a differentiator for them. But it’s especially gratifying when that standard of excellence and success extends to our broader staffing industry and those who might not know our story as well. That’s why we were proud to be acknowledged recently by ClearlyRated as a 2024 winner of their service excellence awards. This year, American Medical Staffing was recognized in their Best of Staffing – Client and Best of Staffing – Talent categories, highlighting our organization’s commitment and consistency in providing superior support to those we collaborate with. While we are honored to take home both awards, the high bar we set for ourselves and the industry is a reflection of how much we care about the work we do and the people we are privileged to work with. That may be one of the reasons why this is the third year in a row we have been honored with these awards. We believe the ClearlyRated results are another representation of how we live our Core Values as an organization. Rooted in the mantra, CREATE Extraordinary Experiences, we rally around our mission and passion for:   Customer Services Respect Ethical Behavior Accountability Teamwork Excellence   Beyond that, we are dedicated to not just staffing healthcare professionals in positions across the country—but to ensuring they have a high-quality experience that expands their personal and professional lives through the course of their placement. And it shows! In both ClearlyRated categories, healthcare professionals and clients ranked us well above the industry average. One of the key factors in this award is the Net Promoter® Score (NPS), a widely used brand loyalty metric that measures how likely respondents are to recommend a business. This question, “how likely are you to refer American Medical Staffing to a friend or colleague” is about more than satisfaction, instead measuring brand engagement, excitement, and enthusiasm. It may be helpful to think about how they recommend AMS the same way as you might recommend a local restaurant to a friend. Imagine gushing about a new restaurant—the food, the service, the atmosphere and location, all perfect. That’s the equivalent of a Promoter in the language of NPS, scoring a 9 or a 10. A restaurant about which you’re less enthusiastic but still enjoy would be considered a Passive, rating either a 7 or 8—you’re not actively urging your friend to go, but you wouldn’t think they were foolish to give it a try. The rating of 6 or lower encompasses a broad range of opinions, but research shows these kinds of recommendations are Detractors from your brand. For the restaurant, you might rate a restaurant that is a serviceable stop on a road trip—clean enough, tasty enough, priced well enough—a 6; a restaurant you would never set foot in again for a host of reasons would be a 0. To determine the Net Promoter® Score, you subtract the percentage of those who were Detractors (rating a 0 to 6) from those who were Promoter (rating a 9 or 10). This becomes a rating on a scale from -100 to 100, with scores above 50% considered GREAT! Within the healthcare staffing industry, American Medical Staffing sets a high bar, with more than 80% of those surveyed rating a 9 or 10 on both the client side and the talent side. See how our scores compare with other agencies: As you can see, there is a wide gap between our scores and our competitors, which underlines the impact of or ability to CREATE Extraordinary Experiences. Those are some big leaps when you’re deciding who you want to partner with. Time and time again, we stand out in the industry for our dedication to relationships and transparency. Let us stand out for your career or organization. Contact us any time to learn more—and to have a no obligation, no pressure conversation about what you’re trying to achieve.

Join us as Samantha gives you a glimpse into her life beyond work, from homesteading with her family to embracing her love for crafting and summer adventures. Get ready to meet the person behind the role! In Samantha’s Words: “My name is Samantha, and I am an HR & Credentialing Specialist here at AMS! I initially started in my role back in 2018 with FlexRN, and joined the wonderful HR team here at AMS in May of 2021 when our companies merged, and became the fabulous organization it is today! I love what I do, and it brings me so much joy, especially when it comes to helping clinicians. Whether it is clearing you for a new assignment or keeping your information up-to-date, I feel a sense of satisfaction in providing reliable and consistent assistance to those who need it. When I am not working, you can usually find me on my homestead in Virginia with my fiancé and 3 little girls, ages 9, 7, and almost 1! I love to sew and be crafty, and have been known to whip up an outfit for my kiddos from time to time! Summer is my favorite season. I love baking and growing new things in our garden! We currently have 24 chickens (chicken math is so real!) and hope to add a few more to our flock this spring, and maybe a goat or 2. No homestead would be complete without a couple of dogs (am I right?), so we have 2, a German Shepherd named Maui and a Staffordshire Terrier we recently rescued named Butters. We also have a cat named Smokey who decided to adopt us about 2 years ago and acts like she has been with us her whole life.”

Clinician Spotlight: LaNora’s Quick Response Sparks Ripple of Positive Change

We at American Medical Staffing (AMS) received a powerful note from a client recently that recognized the exceptional patient care one of our LPNs provided.  LaNora C. was on assignment at a correctional facility in Virginia. When she responded swiftly to a medical emergency, her actions set in motion a chain of events that would profoundly transform a patient’s life and well-being. As she applied the Heimlich maneuver to a choking patient, LaNora cleared the airway obstruction and noticed a concerning lump. Thanks to LaNora’s swift response and attention to detail, the patient was able to get additional life-saving treatment. LaNora’s actions in this emergency sparked a ripple effect of positive change. Her dedication and clinical expertise remind us of nursing’s incredible potential to transform lives. Thank you to LaNora and to all the nurses who change lives for the better every day.

Meet the Team: Katie’s Journey from Credentials to Adventures

In this month’s “Meet the Team” blog, we’re privileged to introduce you to one of the most dynamic individuals at American Medical Staffing (AMS). Katie Love, our HR & Credentialing Specialist, embodies not only professional excellence but also the vibrant spirit that she infuses into her work and daily life. In Katie’s Words: “My name is Katie and I am an HR & Credentialing Specialist for AMS! I’ve been with AMS for a little over 4 years. I started off on the production team and made my way over to the human resources team in 2020. I have enjoyed all the roles I have held but I have to say my current is my favorite. It’s the best of both worlds in that we interact with both clinicians and our clients and our day-to-day constantly changing and challenging me in different ways. I love to try to make the tedious and sometimes intimidating process of credentialing ‘fun’! When I am not working at AMS, I am either working part-time at a spa in Baltimore City where I live or dog sitting (I am always available for hire!)! I also love doing pilates, running, going to farmers’ markets, and trying new restaurants and things to do. If I can offer any recommendations for Baltimore or my pitch of why it isn’t so bad, please reach out to me ????. This past summer, I traveled to Amsterdam and Portugal, and my boyfriend and I are planning our next adventure for 2024. Speaking of travel, in the coming weeks I will be visiting one of my best friends who also works for AMS on the finance team, Morag, in Maine! Hills I will die on: Reality TV is better than scripted, mayonnaise is the superior condiment, and hot coffee is acceptable in 90-degree heat.”

Unlocking Education Through Healthcare: Desiree’s Clinician Spotlight

In the world of nursing, there are those who go above and beyond, dedicating themselves not only to providing care but also to making a profound impact on the communities they serve. Desiree, a dedicated nurse with American Medical Staffing, is one of these exceptional individuals. In this Clinician Spotlight, we shine a light on Desiree’s inspiring journey and her groundbreaking work in bringing a School-Based Health Center (SBHC) to a school district in Maryland. A Unique Path to Nursing Desiree’s journey into nursing is a unique one. She started her career with a degree in music education, specializing in the violin, and spent nearly a decade teaching music. Then, a compelling desire to make a difference in healthcare led her back to school, and she transitioned into nursing. “I returned to nursing school and, following graduation, got into pediatric nursing, mostly in hospitals in the pediatric ER and pediatric ICU,” Desiree explains. Her career took her to different hospitals as her husband’s military service required them to move frequently. She dabbled in school nursing in Florida before fully transitioning into the role. Desiree serves as a Community School nurse, a vital role. “I work with our educators and our Community School Coordinator, basically everybody in the building,” she shares. Her focus is on population-level health support, ranging from individual referrals for students to community partnerships. The Genesis of a Community Health Building Project Desiree’s work goes beyond the typical roles of a school nurse. She’s the driving force behind a groundbreaking project – the creation of the first School-Based Health Center in her district. This innovative project aims to address the significant need for accessible healthcare in the community. The project was inspired by a local Community Resource Day that highlighted the need for a pediatrician in the area. After some research, Desiree discovered the concept of School-Based Health Centers, which are full-service primary care clinics located on school campuses. The idea was to create a clinic with a nurse practitioner or physician assistant who could diagnose and prescribe medication. “We need a pediatrician,” Desiree said when asked about her thoughts on the matter, and that ignited the process. The project quickly gained momentum when the local hospital and the Department of Health expressed their interest. The key factor was obtaining grants from the Community Health Resource Commission (CHRC) to fund operational aspects. Anticipated Impact on the Community This groundbreaking project aims to address multiple concerns within the community. Key outcomes Desiree and her team are working towards include: Improved Attendance: They hope to reduce absenteeism due to preventable illnesses by offering students accessible primary care on the school campus. Better Educational Outcomes: Desiree envisions correlations between School-Based Health Center use and academic success, ultimately leading to improved test scores and achievement rates. Reduced Emergency Department Utilization: By providing regular and accessible primary care, Desiree hopes to see a decline in students needing emergency department visits. “The intersection of health and education is significant,” Desiree emphasizes. Her goal is to contribute to the overall wellbeing of students while helping them excel academically. She believes that focusing on healthcare can impact educational outcomes and vice versa. The Rewarding and Challenging Aspects of the Project Desiree finds her journey into this transformative project highly rewarding. Working with an array of professionals from both the education and health sectors has been an inspiring experience. She highlights the passion that educators and health experts share for seeing students thrive. The initiative is not without challenges, mainly due to the lengthy timelines and bureaucratic hurdles that are part of any major project. Desiree mentions that it’s often a process of “hurry up and wait.” Advice for Aspiring Community Health Champions When asked for advice for other nurses interested in spearheading similar projects, Desiree encourages her fellow nurses to engage actively with their communities. She emphasizes the importance of stepping out of the clinic and becoming visible within the school and local community. “Nurses have a lot of power to work with communities and families because they know that we care,” she states. She believes that nurses’ trustworthiness and their ability to inspire positive change in the community are underutilized resources. Desiree encourages nurses to collaborate with educators and professionals from various fields, recognizing that a joint effort in the realm of health and education can bring about significant and lasting change.
