Celebrating National School Nurse Day: Clinician Spotlights

In honor of National School Nurse Day, American Medical Staffing is delighted to spotlight some of our exceptional school nurses. Take a moment to hear directly from these dedicated professionals about why they love what they do:

Armela S.

“I enjoy being a school nurse because I love meeting students and making them feel better. Other than giving out bandaids, ice packs, and hugs, I love to educate students on healthier lifestyle choices that can improve their well-being. Turning their tears to smiles brings me joy every day!”

Mary L.

“I never thought I would ever work in a pediatric setting as a new nurse. I have worked exclusively with children and school nursing since I began with AMS in late 2015. I have never been happier. The children are each unique, funny, caring and it is so neat to watch them interact with their world.”

Courtney T.

“I like nursing because it’s a profession that allows me to make a direct and positive impact on people’s lives every day. The opportunity to care for individuals during vulnerable moments, provide comfort, and promote healing is incredibly fulfilling. Nursing requires not only medical knowledge but also empathy, communication, and critical thinking skills, which I find challenging and rewarding. The power of caring for people is a feeling that cannot be described.”

Kathy M.

“There are many reasons I enjoy being a school nurse with my co-workers as we support the students as well as each other. It has also increased my knowledge of pediatric assessments as before my main area of nursing was with adults. Along with expanding my diabetes care with young adults. Lastly, I enjoy the interaction with the students and being able to educate the students on various health issues. In general, it has been very rewarding and I have enjoyed my work experience.”

Sharon C.

“Working as a community School Nurse as been very rewarding for me. I am thankful for the opportunity to work with students, parents, and the community. I especially enjoy the health-focused activities we engage in. ”

Sabrina A.

“Be true to yourself and your time! School PDN has been so life-changing. I get to spend more time with the people I hold close as well as set and reach new goals without any second thought. The schedule gives you more time to focus on enjoying life , instead of working and watching life pass you by. It doesn’t have to consist of being burnt out! I can say I love my job without hesitation! Happy Nurses Week! Thanks for all you all do !”

On National School Nurse Day, we extend our deepest gratitude to all school nurses for their unwavering dedication and compassion. Your tireless efforts in promoting health, providing care, and nurturing young minds do not go unnoticed. To Armela, Mary, Courtney, Kathy, Sharon, Sabrina,  and countless other school nurses across the country, thank you for your invaluable contributions to the well-being of our students. You are the heart and soul of our schools, and we celebrate you today and every day.
